Famous as one of the major tea capitals in the Sri Lanka highlands, Hatton is a busy little town that is known to travelers as a stop before Dalhousie or Nallathanniya, where the famous hike of Adam’s peak starts. The peak is famously known by pilgrims (only from December – May), as this mountain is a holy place for Buddhists, Muslims, Hindu’s and Christian. On reaching the peak pilgrims & other travelers wait until the sun rises. If the weather is clear, the sunrise over the surrounding landscape is truly a fascinating natural sight to behold. Great for a good photo with your phone. Other activities are also available from Hatton like a couple of tea estate tours. There are some smaller restaurants in the city center that serve tasty Sri Lankan dishes.

Hatton can easily be reached by buses from Colombo, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.
