Famous as one of the major tea capitals in the Sri Lanka highlands, Hatton is a busy little town that is known to travelers as a stop before Dalhousie or Nallathanniya, where the famous hike of Adam’s peak starts. The peak is famously known by pilgrims (only from December – May), as this mountain is a holy place for Buddhists, Muslims, Hindu’s and Christian. On reaching the peak pilgrims & other travelers wait until the sun rises. If the weather is clear, the sunrise over the surrounding landscape is truly a fascinating natural sight to behold. Other activities are also available from Hatton like a couple of tea estate tours. There are some smaller restaurants in the city center that serve tasty Sri Lankan dishes.
